Why Train with us?

We are very proud of our highly successful SCITT, developed alongside our SCITT partnership schools.

Our Secondary 11-16 programme and Primary Teaching 5-11 programme offer our trainees a high degree of classroom experience, undertaken with the support of experienced, expert mentors.

Excellent support is provided to trainees via our well-established, research informed, bespoke programme of SCITT Centralised Training and Subject Knowledge Development sessions.  Sessions are delivered by outstanding classroom practitioners, subject specialists, experts in teaching and learning and Specialist Leaders of Education.

Our SCITT is a QTS route with no requirement to complete additional assignments. This allows all of the trainee’s focus to be on developing their classroom skills, subject knowledge and pedagogy.

Our programme is immersive and allows trainees to develop a full understanding of a teacher’s roles and responsibilities, thus ensuring trainees are well-prepared to step into this rewarding career. Trainees are immersed in the professional life of a teacher for the full academic year: Sept-July.

Trainees receive excellent support from expert mentors in placement schools. We tailor the training programme to your individual needs. We are proud of our trainees’ excellent outcomes and employment prospects.

In addition to the main placement, trainees also conduct a short placement in a partner, contrasting school and all trainees have the opportunity to gain experience of teaching their subject at post-16 level.

Our Primary and Secondary Trainees will experience a placement in Early Years, a Special School and also Alternative Provision.

We offer attractive incentives for maths applicants, through the Stoke Mathematics Excellence Partnership. For all other subjects there may be bursaries available from NCTL.

Ofsted Report (2019): “Leaders provide a clear moral purpose for the SCITT. This is to provide local schools with high-quality teachers and so improve children’s life chances. They are successful in achieving this aim.”
